Gary McDonald is an entrepreneur and non-profit leader. Having founded Nursefinders of Cincinnati and Nursefinders of Pittsburgh as well as his own Australian themed restaurant, he went on to create Feeding America San Diego, the largest food bank in San Diego County. Gary also served as the State Director for MADD California. Later, as President /CEO he successfully merged Senior Gleaners Food Bank with the Sacramento Food Bank to better streamline hunger relief in Sacramento County. At the request of the White House, Gary participated in a panel discussion for Initiatives on Hunger and Homelessness.
Cathy Morrison has been an integral part of the Lighthouse team since 2013. As the Chief Operating Officer for Lighthouse Counseling and Family Resource Center, Cathy is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction. She serves as the organization’s I.T. administrator too! Cathy has a history of success as the Director of Corporate Operations for iDiscover Global, an international, high-tech legal services firm. She also managed the National Office of the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation, a non-profit agency dedicated to correctional officers and their families in times of catastrophic events and in-line duty deaths. Cathy’s academic background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from the California State University of Sacramento, where she graduated with honors.
Chief Operating Office
Deborah Duell-Stephens is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Chief Clinical Officer at Lighthouse Counseling. She provides leadership and direction to clinical staff and is responsible for planning, organizing, therapeutic services, operations and participating in plans for strategic growth. Deborah is a certified CADC II, SAP to provide DOT return-to-duty evaluations. She is certified in TF-CBT and has completed Gottman Level III for couples’ work. Deborah works with individuals, couples, and families, is a Medi-Cal approved provider, is paneled with multiple insurance and EAP companies, supervises pre-licensed clinicians, and offers CAMFT Certified Supervision training.
Chief Clinical Officer – Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
Eireann Smith is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has experience working with adolescents and families and enjoys working with individuals and couples. She has worked extensively with community-based mental health agencies, foster youth in a variety of settings, the homeless population, private practice settings, and with geriatric clients. Further, she has experience working with in-patient and partial hospitalization clients and has extensive experience working with acute clients who can benefit from participating in therapy to learn how to manage such issues as self-harm, suicidality, substance abuse, or serious family conflicts.
Clinician – Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
Kathleen Hoffman is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has experience working with adolescents and families and enjoys working with individuals and couples. Prior to her work with Lighthouse, she worked extensively to provide workshops for at-risk youth and brought a wealth of experience to her work with youth in our community. Further, she co-created the Managing Your Emotions adult psychoeducation group process, which is still in use today.
Kathleen is trained in Gottman Level I for working with couples, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Satir Level I, is experienced in equine-assisted psychotherapy, and is certified in Relationship Enhancement Skills. In addition to her career as a psychotherapist, Kathleen is a retired special education teacher of children with disabilities. Serving others to create a better life, happiness and independence has been her life’s passion.
Clinician – Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
After attending college at the University of Colorado where she studied architecture and design, Julie returned to her native northern California area to attend CSU Sacramento. After college, she operated her own catering business while working for the State of CA, eventually leaving the work force to raise her children. Currently, she is enjoying her second season of life, of which her work at Lighthouse is a highlight. “I love the opportunity that my job affords me to interact with the Placer County business community and residents, all while making a difference to those in need.”
Lisa has been employed with Lighthouse since April, 2014. She performs all of the accounting functions for Lighthouse, inclusive of financial reporting and audit support. With a strong knowledge of both cash and accrual accounting systems, Lisa has been responsible for multi-fund budgets ranging from 10 million to 100 million dollars. She has been employed for over 30 years in both the non-profit and for profit sectors, and has experience in all aspects of financial forecasting, resource allocation, fund management, accounting and control.
Raymond Hampson has been with Lighthouse since November 2013.
Raymond participates in various outreach events in Placer County. At these events, Raymond will discuss how Lighthouse can support Placer County residents in improving their lives through our counseling programs, educational classes or public benefit programs.

Community Outreach Specialist
Lexe is driven to serve the community, providing sensitive therapy from a systemic and cultural perspective. She is very passionate to help others overcome obstacles and achieve goals. Lexe graduated from California State University of Sacramento with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and went on to receive her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Loma Linda, CA. In her free time, Lexe enjoys exercising, spending time with friends and family, going to the beach, and shopping.
Bilingual Clinician – Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT)
Ana began her career with Lighthouse in 2013 as a Bilingual Community Outreach Specialist. That position allowed her to reach out to all of Placer County, offering Lighthouse services and providing education, while in collaboration with other Placer County organizations. She quickly worked her way through the ranks, promoting her to her current position of Family Resource Center Manager. One of her biggest passions is helping people. Her current position of a of Family Resource Center Manager allows her to do that. In 2013, Ana graduated with an Associate of Art degree in Early Child Development.

Kania Ramirez appreciates that her position as Bilingual Administrative Assistant allows her to continue her passion of helping people. This experience allows her the opportunity to provide community members with resources and programs provided by Lighthouse. Prior to coming to Lighthouse, Kania spent several years in retail management, while pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Development. Her goal is to continue to provide the valuable resources, while building a strong community, to those whom are striving for an improved quality of life. Kania is married to a U.S. Army Veteran, and is a mother to two young boys. In her spare time, she enjoys building LEGOs and playing board games with her sons, walking her dog and watching movies as a family.
Bilingual Administrative Assistant
Lauren Parker is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who enjoys working with individuals, children, adolescents and families. She is trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, ABFT attachment-based theory, Gottman Level I, Level II, and Level III for working with couples, and has extensive experience working with individuals to recover from alcohol and substance disorders. Lauren is passionate about supporting people in meeting their goals. She believes therapy is a collaborative process and strives to create a safe and empathetic space that fosters growth and healing for all.

Taylor Artley is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. She graduated from California State University San Marcos with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. For her graduate study, Taylor attended Pepperdine University where she obtained her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. She completed her traineeship at Lighthouse and was hired on as a full-time clinician in 2020. Taylor is interested in working with children, adolescents, couples and families. In her free time, Taylor enjoys discovering new restaurants, traveling, watching Disney movies, and spending time with her family and friends.

Luis is committed to helping the community, and has a great passion in the area of Mental Health. His previous experience includes work with NAMI Sonoma County as their Program Coordinator, which expanded into working with the farm workers and day laborers. Before moving to Sacramento, Luis worked for the Redwood Empire Food Bank as their Regional Program Coordinator, in which he oversaw food distributions for two counties. Luis’s career goals include obtaining an MSW, then a LCSW, and continuing to work serving his community.
Family Support Specialist
Ashley Roberts joined the Lighthouse family in February of 2021. She resides in Sacramento, California and is a recent transplant from Southern California, where she was born and raised. She is a Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. She graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Master’s of Science degree in Professional Counseling; and a Liberal Studies degree from California State University, East Bay with a minor in English. For her graduate study, Ashley completed her practicum hours at Change Lanes Youth Support Services, where she provided individual counseling services and groups for youth and parents working towards family reunification. After receiving her associate number, Ashley provided therapeutic services for children at Masada Homes in Lancaster, CA and Turning Point Flexible Integrated Treatment (FIT) upon moving to Sacramento in 2020.

Tori Sanchez is a Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. She graduated from California Baptist University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology. For her graduate study, Tori attended the University of Redlands where she obtained her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She completed her traineeship at a school district in Yucaipa, California. Tori enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults at Lighthouse.

Laura is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. She graduated from William Jessup University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Bible & Theology. She obtained her Masters of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy through Western Seminary. Laura enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families at Lighthouse. In her free time, Laura enjoys reading, watching superhero movies, and drinking coffee.

Sara Ladeas is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. Sara graduated from California Polytechnic State University, SLO with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Science. Sara completed her graduate studies at Brandman University, obtaining a Master of Arts in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Sara completed her traineeship here at Lighthouse Counseling and Family Resource Center before being hired as a full-time employee. Sara enjoys the variety of clients that working at Lighthouse provides. Sara is interested in working to increase mental health awareness and encouraging empowerment to all. In her free time, Sara enjoys reading and spending quality time with family and friends.
