Gary McDonald

Gary McDonald is an entrepreneur and non-profit leader. Having founded Nursefinders of Cincinnati and Nursefinders of Pittsburgh as well as his own Australian themed restaurant, he went on to create Feeding America San Diego, the largest food bank in San Diego County. Gary also served as the State Director for MADD California. Later, as President /CEO he successfully merged Senior Gleaners Food Bank with the Sacramento Food Bank to better streamline hunger relief in Sacramento County. At the request of the White House, Gary participated in a panel discussion for Initiatives on Hunger and Homelessness.

Dawniel is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 17 years of experience working in a variety of clinical settings including residential treatment, private practice, health care, schools and community based mental health services. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of California Davis, has her PsyD in Organization Development and an MBA specializing in management and leadership from Alliant International University. Dawniel is trained in multiple evidence-based practices including dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing. Dawniel is passionate about her work and dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of others.

Jeff Decker

Jeff Decker is a Certified Internal Auditor with extensive experience in the education field. He has worked for several non-profit institutions, including Heald College and Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu and most recently at DePauw University in Indiana. He has also taught internationally in China and the United Arab Emirates. He has served on the board of directors for a non-profit credit union and has several years of experience as a financial analyst/controller in the manufacturing sector. He has degrees from Ball State University, the University of Oregon and a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona.

Ana began her career with Lighthouse in 2013 as a Bilingual Community Outreach Specialist. That position allowed her to reach out to all of Placer County, offering Lighthouse services and providing education, while in collaboration with other Placer County organizations. She quickly worked her way through the ranks, promoting her to her current position of Family Resource Center Manager. One of her biggest passions is helping people. Her current position of a of Family Resource Center Manager allows her to do that. In 2013, Ana graduated with an Associate of Art degree in Early Child Development.

Kania Ramirez

Kania Ramirez appreciates that her position as Bilingual Family Support Specialist allows her to continue her passion of helping people. This experience allows her the opportunity to provide community members with resources and programs provided by Lighthouse. Prior to coming to Lighthouse, Kania spent several years in retail management, while pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Development. Her goal is to continue to provide the valuable resources, while building a strong community, to those whom are striving for an improved quality of life. Kania is married to a U.S. Army Veteran, and is a mother to two young boys. In her spare time, she enjoys building LEGOs and playing board games with her sons, walking her dog and watching movies as a family.

Fatima is grateful of having the opportunity to work for Lighthouse as a Bilingual Family Support Specialist. This position allows her to help her community by providing resources and information about Lighthouse programs to community members. She has customer service and organizational skills obtained through the retail and manufacturing fields. Her interest in serving her community through Lighthouse began when she was a volunteer at our organization back in 2016. Since then, she has become a mom of one, and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from California State University, Sacramento.

After attending college at the University of Colorado where she studied architecture and design, Julie returned to her native northern California area to attend CSU Sacramento. After college, she operated her own catering business while working for the State of CA, eventually leaving the work force to raise her children. Currently, she is enjoying her second season of life, of which her work at Lighthouse is a highlight. “I love the opportunity that my job affords me to interact with the Placer County business community and residents, all while making a difference to those in need.”

Laura comes to Lighthouse with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies. She also has her Family Development Credential. She has a strong foundation in family and community services and postpartum support. She strongly believes in supporting each family as a whole holistically. She does this by connecting the pieces of the puzzle so that each family has the support they need in all aspects of their Family Circle. With compassion and care, she brings families comfort and ease. In addition, she does her best to empathize with each family. She utilizes a strength-based approach. Every family comes with unique strengths and needs. She enjoys providing families with the resources and tools to navigate and thrive in the community. Knowing she can help families through each journey brings her joy, passion, and fulfillment.

Eireann Smith is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has experience working with adolescents and families and enjoys working with individuals and couples. She has worked extensively with community-based mental health agencies, foster youth in a variety of settings, the homeless population, private practice settings, and with geriatric clients. Further, she has experience working with in-patient and partial hospitalization clients and has extensive experience working with acute clients who can benefit from participating in therapy to learn how to manage such issues as self-harm, suicidality, substance abuse, or serious family conflicts.

Ashley Roberts

Ashley Roberts joined the Lighthouse family in February of 2021. She resides in Sacramento, California and is a recent transplant from Southern California, where she was born and raised. She is a Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. She graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Master’s of Science degree in Professional Counseling; and a Liberal Studies degree from California State University, East Bay with a minor in English. For her graduate study, Ashley completed her practicum hours at Change Lanes Youth Support Services, where she provided individual counseling services and groups for youth and parents working towards family reunification. After receiving her associate number, Ashley provided therapeutic services for children at Masada Homes in Lancaster, CA and Turning Point Flexible Integrated Treatment (FIT) upon moving to Sacramento in 2020.

Laura Cuevas

Laura Cuevas is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist Registration Applicant and an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor Registration Applicant. Laura is a compassionate clinician with strong interests in serving survivors of trauma. It is Laura's belief that therapy should be a place where one should feel safe enough to be vulnerable. Yaeko Dawe Estrada

Yaeko has a BA in Child and Adolescent Development from Sacramento State University and is currently working on her MA in Counseling Psychology at William Jessup University. She has experience working in schools and over 2 years of experience as a behavioral therapist working with children with ASD. Yaeko has 3 daughters which keep her very busy. When she is not working, she is an active member in the community co-leading girl scouts, and actively volunteering in her daughters’ school. In her free time, Yaeko loves to read, listen to music, and go on vacation with her family.
